What the u3a is and what it can do for you.
The u3a was created to provide purpose for those in their 'third age' - no longer engaged full time in learning (1st age) or earning (2nd age). Now you have the time and inclination, come and develop new interests and skills, and share your own with similary minded others. Do all those things you wanted to but never had the time or opportunity for, and help others to do likewise.
The South Bucks u3a
The South Bucks u3a has been in existence since 1988, initially in Beaconsfield but then covering South Bucks.
We currently have around 350 members.
Interest Groups
We have around 30 interest groups run by 'convenors' who organise meetings and encourage members' participation in events to share knowledge, skills, hobbies and interests.
Where do we meet?
We have monthly general meetings with lectures/ presentations in the Beacon Centre, Holtspur. The individual interest groups meet at locations around Beaconsfield and South Bucks in venues ranging from members' homes to the Beacon Centre in Holtspur

Turn up and find out! Non-members are welcome, but please check with the group convenor before dropping in.
We are actively seeking newly retired or no longer fulltime working members to rejuvenate our membership and to inject some fresh ideas into our interest groups, as many of our long-serving stalwarts are looking for assistance.

The u3a is for people who want to keep active in mind and body, enjoy socialising, and are no longer in full time employment.
u3a Members also benefit from being able to join any of the growing number of Interest Groups which cover a wide variety of subjects. Some members join the u3a just to be able to participate in our friendly Groups led by knowledgeable and enthusiastic leaders.
