The group looks at any aspect of interest, beit culture, politics, history, geography etc of countries of the Old USSR or previously allied to it. These range from the Caucasus, the Balkans, the Baltic States, as well as some of Central Asia such as Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
We have two fluent Russian speakers and others with partial knowledge of the language, and some who have travelled in the region outlined. But we would love to welcome new members with an interest in looking beyond our immediate geographical neighbours to 'explore' cultures found further east.
All meetings take place at the Convenor’s home and new members would be most welcome.
