This is for those who prefer something a little more energetic than the shorter walks group. 2.5 hour/5 mile walks of standard Chilterns terrain walking with a pub lunch at the end if you wish. Intellectual discussion of any points of interest may be provided by all present!
The walking group now meets on the 4th THURSDAY of the month, usually starting and finishing at a pub for lunch. The move from Monday was to increase the selection of walks/pubs as Monday lunches are poorly catered for. This also avoids Bank Holiday issues. Details of the walk are emailed a week in advance.
Please note that members join the walks at their own risk. Boots and sticks are recommended. You will be advised of the area and terrain prior to the walk. A suitable level of fitness and mobility is expected - let the leader/convenor know if you have any specific ailments or concerns before starting the walk. You are advised to provide your own first aid kit.
Keith is the convenor of all walking groups as well as proposing and leading walks. PLEASE lighten my u3a load and volunteer to assist! Organising a walk entails picking a 2.5 hour 5 mile ‘Chilterns’ route, reconnoitring it for stiles, mud and other hazards, and warning the pub of impending lunch custom.
We walk at the pace of the slowest. If in any doubt of your pace/fitness, start with the shorter walking group.
