1605 and Guy Fawkes is tortured in the Tower of London.  1642 civil war breaks out in England and Parliament moves to arrest the Archbishop of Canterbury.  1649 the King is executed.  1660 Monarchy is restored and the Regicides are hung, drawn & quartered.  1665 Bubonic Plague arrives. 1666 London is ablaze.

It's a torrid time and we will hear the details and see where it happened.  We'll meet the man who gives us the daily updates in his diary, we'll stand on a plague graveyard and we'll decide not to climb the 311 steps to the top of the Monument to the Great Fire.  But we'll also move forward in that century and hear how Sir Christopher Wren rebuilds the city with the old street plan, new churches and a perfect view.   Join us as we tune out the traffic, blank out the modern architecture and focus in on the detail that tells us how London developed in this turbulent period.

The walk will start at Tower Hill station and end near St Pauls.
